Fees:
Page numbers are based on an approximation of 250 words per page (an editing industry standard) to estimate pricing).
Copy editing rates vary according to the level of editing required, from approximately $0.02 for light editing of well-polished manuscripts, to $0.08 per word for manuscripts needing heavier or more extensive editing. Developmental editing may be done on a per hour basis. My standard hourly rate is $50 per hour. I use both these metrics to determine a good rate for your project.
All suggested pricing is listed as a range, depending on your needs, level of editing required, and your budgetary considerations. I realize we all work with different budgets, and want to be flexible so that we can work together. Final pricing will be determined after I have a chance to review your writing sample and we have discussed your needs. Often we will agree on a per project fee. If circumstances change during the project (for example, we decide to add a second round of edits, it may be necessary to renegotiate costs. I keep all lines of communication open when this occurs.
All projects include a free 1/2 hour phone call to discuss your project, as well as a 1/2 hour phone call after edits are completed, should you wish it.
